a happy update on my sound situation
Hi there friends, this is Daniel here with a verry happy update about my sound effects situation. It turns out that the company I bought them from, Sound ideas, now offers there sounds and music on hard drive. That’s really cool, because when I bought these libraries back in 2003, that wasn’t an option. It’s a little too expensive for me to have them transfered to hard drive from CD though, so my mom knows of a man who might be able to do it for us for nothing which would be really cool.
I’ll of course keep you posted as to what happens, and meanwhile, if you’d like to check out sound ideas for yourself, the address is http://www.sound-ideas.com. I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Your comments and suggestions are always greatly appreciated and welcomed and have lots of fun gaming.
this sound hunting is turning out to be a lot of fun
Hi there friends, this is Daniel here writing to give you all an update on this whole sound hunting business. It turns out that if I find places where I can download free sounds and music, I can work with them a lot better than if I ripped a CD onto my hard drive. For what ever reason, my computer won’t rip my sound CDs anymore, so I’m using a web site called www.soundjay.com to get my sounds, and thus far it’s been a resounding success.
I can download free sounds and music tracks, and if I run into a sound that won’t play, I know how to repair it so it’ll play properly through windows media player. Well, that’s all for now, but I’ll be back later with more interesting content. As usual, your comments and suggestions are always welcomed and appreciated and have fun gaming.
this sound effects situation is really bugging me.
Hi there friends, this is Daniel here of Vlf games. Oh my lord, this whole sound effects situation is really beginning to bug the hek out of me. Just when I think I’ve found a solution to the problem, something always crops up. I’ve found a site where you can download free sounds and music for building computer games, but I’ve got 2 sounds that won’t play because it says I’ve got a technical problem with my computer.
I don’t know what sort of problem it could be, unless there’s a setting that’s a bit off, I’m not sure. Oh well though, I’ll figure something out, I always do. Well my friends, that’s all for now, I’ll be back later with more fun, until then have lots of fun gaming and be sure to leave your comments and suggestions.
an extremely interesting google news article about why people are attracted to video games
Hi there friends this is Daniel of Vlf games here with another interesting article I found that talks about why people love to play video games. Apparently, the biggest reason people love video games is because they give a person the opertunity to adopt their ideal personality. That is, the person can try on different characteristics to see what they would like their ideal selves to be, whether it be the role of a villan, a hero or a caregiver.
It seems that people felt better after playing video games because they got to act like their ideal selves, thus raising their self-esteem which makes lots of sense to me. For example, in my mud called aetolia, I play a paladin, which is a knight with mystical abilities to heal themselves and their brothers in arms, as well as cure aflictions. A paladin is a lawful person who protects his or city or guild with their life if need be, and will only use weaponry when it is absolutely needed. They would much rather resolve their differences by working through the problem.
Which is why I chose this kind of character to play, because I’m not an evil person, and in fact, I rather love the idea of being able to mount up on my stallion and ride through the gates of the city of Enorian where I live and go hunting for adventure or good deeds to perform, and then riding back into town to report my actions to my fellow city mates and brothers in arms.
So this idea that people play video games for this reason really makes a lot of sense, and I personally thought it was an extremely interesting studdy. Well my friends, I sincerely hope you enjoyed reading this little story, and as always, your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated and welcomed. Have lots of fun gaming and I’ll be talking to you.
I finally got my sound-editing software to work.
Hi there friends, this is Daniel writing to you to let you know that I finally got my sound-editing software to work. Yes indeed, I got it to work and I’ve been having a ball playing around with the effects and seeing what each one of them does. I’m not going to tell you what I’m doing as far as game development, this means things like the progress of a game, or what kind of game it is. You’ll learn all of that just before the product is released.
Sorry, don’t mean to be harsh, but I don’t want to be disturbed with a constant bombardment of questions about a game’s progress. But I am having lots of fun learning how to work with sound forge. Now if I could learn how to code. Well my friends, I’ll be back with more fun things about gaming, and as usual your comments and suggestions are always welcomed and appreciated. Have lots of fun gaming.
a new and verry interesting piece of gaming equipment to hopefully spruce up your living room
Hi there friends, this is Daniel here with something that I thought was extremely interesting. Apparently, Liberty games has built something called the platinum arcade coffee table. This thing is built out of stainless steel, was crafted in Great Britain and has everything built into this peace of furnature that will let you play video games as well as connect to the internet with its built in, self-contained wireless internet hub.
This’ll set you back a hefty 3,000 british pounds, but it’s well worth it if you aren’t an artsy type of person. Also, the coffee table has with it a 22 inch flat-screen LCD monitor as well as a built-in logitech touchpad to make gaming much easier. You can even hook this baby up to your television set if you choose. Lord, this thing sounds awesome, but I don’t know if I’d want to pay that much for a coffee table. I’ll leave that all up to you to decide though. It just proves my point even more that the way technology is going, if it isn’t being thought of and invented as we speak, it’ll never be thought up.
Well my friends, that’s all for today, but believe me, I’ll be back later on with much more fun stuff to read and think about. As usual, your comments and suggestions are always welcomed and appreciated and as usual have lots of fun gaming.
a verry happy update on my coding ventures
Hi there friends, this is Daniel Perry, founder of Vlf games here to give you a verry happy update on my coding ventures. I’ve been working with a friend of mine who verry kindly showed me some verry small bits of code that I could work with and then proceeded to show me how to impliment and make them work. As a result, I was able to create a small program that read a message to you when you clicked on it, as well as a small program that made Microsoft Sapi say a message when clicked. I’ll be sure and keep you updated on my progress on coding, but I _will not_ tell you anything about what kind of games I’ll be building, nor the progress on completion of said games.
Have a wonderful day to everyone, and I’ll of course be back later on with more fun things. As usual, your comments and suggestions are always greatly appreciated and welcomed and have lots of fun gaming.
an update on the brainable device
Hi there friends, this is Daniel here again with an update on the Brainable device that I read about over the internet that’s supposed to let people use the computer with just their mind. Well, it turns out, after I sent an email to one of the men who is working on this project that it is only meant for people with motor skills problems, or those with spinal cord injuries, so no blind people will be using this technology unfortunately. Oh well, I’m not really wurried about it, and to be honest, I wasn’t really holding my breath too much.
Well my friends, that’s all for now, and I hop you enjoy the post. As usual, your comments and suggestions are greatly welcomed and appreciated and as usual, have lots of fun gaming.
can you really play in a virtual world using only your mind?
Can you really play inside a virtual world using only your mind? The answer is a resounding yes. A project called Brain able is using its technology to not only give communication skills back to those who are parelized, or who have difficulty performing basic motor skills because of a stroke, but they also believe that people who are bind could use this technology to play in virtual environments that they wouldn’t normally have access to.
From what I read, this technology could also be used to operate a television simply by looking at, and even operating the appliances in a smart home using just your mind, and a controller to accept the brain waves. This is really interesting, and it’s something that I’m deffinatly going to contact these people about to see if I can’t get involved somehow. I’ll of course keep you posted as to what I find out, and if you’d like to see more information for yourself, simply go to the following link.
http://www.brainable.org/ and have lots of fun reading up on this amazing technology. As usual, your comments and suggestions are greatly apprecated and welcomed. Have lots of fun gaming.
I’m in the games!
Hi there again friends, this is Daniel Perry here of Vlf games writing to tell you that I’m verry excited because as of last week, I made that nice big jump into the accessible computer gaming industry with the purchase of my accessible game building softwae called the Blastbay tool kit. This is a program that will allow me to build and sell computer games that are completely based on audio environments. This means that there are no graphics in the games what so ever, and you are really able to use your emagination to play them, as they are audio based.
I’ve got huge plans for this software, and I hope the community loves my games. Well, that’s it for now, but trust me, I’ll be back with more later this week. As usual, your comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated and welcomed, and have lots of fun gaming.
